Roadmap Stubs

General
- Notifications
- A notification system that tells users about changes to data sets and other resources. Expose feeds, also maybe email notification. (Andrea)
- Data Feed Import
- Allow users to import a data feed on the web. Have a feed information page, metadata, and the ability to add the feed to a map. Example: USGS disaster feeds. (Ivan)
- Data visualizations
- Allow users to visualize geospatial information as charts in addition to maps. See http://g.raphaeljs.com/ (Ivan)
- Federation
- How to federate metadata and search across GeoNodes. Becomes an interesting problem when caching gets involved (Dwins)
- Metadata Quality Validation Workflows
- An Admin Tool for finding datasets with missing metadata. And then notifying its owners, or otherwise labeling it to shame its owners.
- Geocoding-powered data search
- Allow more organic search with internationalized geocoding. Search for "earthquakes in santiago, chile." Could start with GeoNames but scope quickly grows out to include general geocoding.
- Using Same Style for Multiple Data Sets
- Figure out the user interface for allowing users to apply the same style to multiple data sets, and what would have to change internally to facilitate that.
Disaster Response
- Localized data export
- The ability to select an area of interest of a data set and export _only_ the subset of data within that area of interest.
- A Verified/Unverified data listing
- that helps filter data by metadata completeness. use case: needing to filter through lots of unverified data for a sensitive purpose. (Maybe this could be a scaled ranking?)
- Low bandwidth UI
- A stripped down UI for low bandwidth users. (Fewer images, more static pages)
- Performance Tuning
- Performance benchmarking and testing in various conditions and application optimization.
- Hard metadata and data transfer
- The ability to do a metadata catalog dump from GeoNode that can then be transfered by USB and browsed (offline? by another GeoNode?), and the ability to do an offline data sync between GeoNodes when there is low connectivity and multiple local machines.
GIS
- Project-based GIS workflows
- Support for "Workspaces" that fit usage patterns of project-based GIS.
Infrastructure
- Demo Tuning
- Devoting time to the live demo to make it fast, informative, exciting. Load data. Do performance enhancements.
- Code review and refactoring
- Code and architecture cleanliness to accelerate development and make it more accessible to new developers.
- Development Community Website
- A website for the development community, integrated with task tracker, showing complete documentation.
